Hair needs lots of volume?

If your hair is lacking volume, there are a few things you can do different. First ask yourself are you spending the time to do something to it, or are you just expecting to roll out of bed and have great hair? Sounds simple but you would be amazed how many clients have this complaint and I ask them” how are you styling your hair?” response:” I let it air dry”

Second, are you using any products that support the style you want?
You should be using light products if you have fine hair. Concentrating the product at the root..
You dont want to use anything that will weigh the hair down or make it greasy.

Last, when you have all the product in place at the root concentrate on blow drying your hair at the root. I strongly suggest to really be aggressive , massage and pull the hair from the scalp keeping lots of tension. you may even want to rub your palm on your scalp, almost like you are matting the hair. All these techniques in place will give you LOTS OF VOLUME, definitely more than you were getting. Try it out and tell me how it works out for you.

Saturday was the big reveal for our makeovers!  How fun was that!!!!

It was a treat to work with other stylists in the San Antonio area that I had never met before.  We all worked as a team with one goal in mind…making these women look beautiful.  As mentioned previously, prior to confernece, six women were selected for the makeover.  In addition, six additional women were chosen from the audience for a mini makeovers.  It was so cool, I felt like I was on Shear Genius (one of my favorite shows). 

We had about 20 minutes to transform these women, that included hair and make-up. I love working under pressure.  It was such a blessing to be a part of this conference, I realized the gifts and talents that I have make such an impact on people and they shouldn’t be taken for granted. 

One of the things Diana Hagee said was “sometimes our God given gifts come so natural to us, that we don’t realize what our gifts are”.  It’s easy to think you don’t have gifts, but everyone has a gift to share. 

What is your gift?  My gift, is using my hands to make “art” out of someone’s hair and making them feel beautiful.  I am so grateful that I love what I do and that I’m good at it too. -SR

Hair by Sonia is incredibly honored to have been selected as a makeover sponsor for this years King’s Daughter Womens Conference.

This Christian Women’s conference is held annually here in San Antonio and four to six women are selected out of thousands who attend for a “mini makeover”.   This amazing event is designed for both spiritual and self transformation for women from around the world for Jesus Christ.   The reveal of each makeover comes as the finale of the conference.  For those chosen makeover women, this new transformation not only symbolizes their new (re)dedication to our Lord Jesus Christ but also a renewal of self image.

This is my first year participating and I am so excited!  I met with my model today and  we will be coloring and cutting.  We will be choosing a new cut and style to compliment and suit her needs.  To get more info on the conference  go to www.thekingsdaughter.org.
